PRO (47-2/3-0): Drafted by the Steelers with the first of two selections in their fourth round (111th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

2016 (7-0): Recorded six special teams tackles (two, 10/2 vs. Kansas City, and one, 9/12 at Washington, 9/18 vs. Cincinnati, 9/25 at Philadelphia and 11/6 at Baltimore)…inactive 10/16 at Miami, 10/23 vs. New England, 11/20 at Cleveland and 11/24 at Indianapolis due to a groin injury.

PERSONAL: Attended Ocean Lakes High School (Virginia Beach, Va.)…was a two-sport standout, excelling in track and football…as a senior, was named all-state, all-region and all-tidewater first-team, as the two-time all-district selection would go on to set school records in career tackles, interceptions and defensive touchdowns…in his final season, recorded a team-high 102 tackles, six interceptions, 11 pass deflections and one blocked field goal…helped lead his squad to a 12-1 record on the way to garnering team defensive MVP honors…led the team with 77 tackles and five interceptions as a junior…concluded his gridiron prep career by playing for the United States team that won the 2009 IFAF Junior World Championship in track…earned All-State honors competing in the 100-meter dash and as the anchor of the 4X100 relay that placed seventh in Virginia…son of Abdul Shabazz and Ebeth Shabazz…married to Estephania…the couple has three children, daughters Chrissy and Mikki, and son, Shamarko, Jr…has two adopted brothers, Walik and Altariq…Full name: Shamarko Lanell Thomas.
